Favorite French pharmacy skincare
One of the things I loved about Be Smooth from the get-go was the skincare lines I saw when I first scanned the product displays. I felt as if I had taken an unexpected trip to my favorite place on earth- the French pharmacies. At Be Smooth, you’ll find some of the best and most sought-after beauty products on the French market. Owner Helene Lawless constantly makes a point of seeking out and offering to her clients the same skincare brands that line the shelves of pharmacies back in her native France, the same brands she grew up using. Here are just a handful of featured products you’ll find at Be Smooth:
Bioderma Sensibio H20 Cleansing Water
A staple for makeup artists at fashion shows around the world, this super mild but efficient all-in-one cleanser is a fantastic make-up remover. It’s France’s best-selling cleanser, recommended by French dermatologists to restore the skin to its original balance. Now available in Portland, it’s like being given an all-access pass to a jet-setting super model’s beauty bag!
Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Dry Oil
A best-selling pharmacy brand for years, Nuxe is one of the more recognizable brands at Be Smooth. Taking that one step further, this luxurious oil is the line’s best-selling product. Containing 98% natural ingredients and rich in plant oils and vitamin E, this multi-use formula can be used on the body, face, and hair.
Lierac Paris Body Slim
This rich (and slightly cooling!) body gel is truly one of a kind. While most cellulite creams contain about 2-3% active caffeine, with department store brands boasting up to 5%, Lierac’s formula uses a whopping 10% active caffeine and drainage-enhancing elder extract to help correct the appearance of all visible signs of stubborn cellulite: “dimpled skin”, loss of firmness, and excess water retention.
Roger&Gallet and Bourjois
Be Smooth also carries several cosmetic and gift options from long-standing French companies. French perfume house Roger&Gallet made a name for itself over 100 years ago when they introduced their beautifully packaged round bath soaps, and have since added luxuriously scented body creams, fragrances, and more. Bourjois Cosmetics, meanwhile, introduced the first powder blush back in the 1860s, continuing on to produce some of our favorite lip and cheek pallets.
And along with some of the best French skincare products, Be Smooth also provides French esthetic services including facials, waxing, and body treatments like those you’d find in an “institut de beauté”. Hélène’s “less is more” philosophy isn’t as common here in the states, not when it comes to time need spent at the spa nor her philosophy on skin care routines. But that’s what makes Be Smooth a unique and refreshing alternative, at least if the “born chic,” natural elegance that is synonymous with our idea of French women is testament to anything.
Be Smooth is bringing French skincare to Portland. All you have to do is bring yourself to Be Smooth!
